Requires a

Teacher of Science

Maternity Cover to Easter 2026 in the first instance

Main/Upper pay range with effect from September 2025

The Marvell College are looking to appoint a well qualified and passionate teacher of Science to join our established team.

The post will appeal to new and more experienced teachers who have a track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning and wish to join a dynamic and supportive team committed to ensuring pupils have exposure to the very best educational experience.

The successful candidate will:

  • promote the vision and values of the college at all times
  • be a team player ensuring the needs of pupils sit at the heart of what they do each day
  • commit to providing high quality pastoral care for all pupils
  • be self-reflective and pursue the best possible outcomes for pupils
  • enjoy the opportunity to innovate and be committed to their own professional development
  • embrace a culture of positive relationship and restorative practice
  • engage children and invest in opportunities to enrich their learning beyond the classroom

Successful candidates will be supported to fully develop in the role, benefiting from a comprehensive bespoke CPD programme. In addition, colleagues will also benefit from being part of The Hull Collaborative Multi-Academy Trust (HCAT) where there are significant opportunities for further progression as well as generous employee benefits and favourable pay and conditions.

The Marvell College continues to go from strength to strength. This was confirmed by another strong "Good" Ofsted report in July 2024.

What Ofsted say about our school:

  • "This is an inclusive, caring and friendly school. Leaders are ambitious for the pupils."
  • "Staff have high expectations for pupils. Pupils behave well in classrooms and on corridors."
  • "Leaders have created a culture where positive relationships are important. As a result, pupils are courteous and respectful to staff and to each other."
  • "Staff are proud to work at The Marvell College. Leaders take care to ensure that staff workload and well-being constitute a high priority."
  • "There is a collective will to succeed and a determination that The Marvell College continues to improve."

We are extremely proud to serve our community and have a committed body of staff who strive to go the extra mile for the pupils in our care. We seek to live out our school motto that those in our care are, and can be, "As good as anyone, anywhere" and ensure our school values of "Ambition, Respect and Courage" permeate all that we do. The school is oversubscribed every year and staff turnover is very low.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a substantial difference to the lives of young people.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure & Barring Service.

As part of our safer recruitment procedures, online checks (including social media) may be carried out by the Trust, as part of our shortlisting process.

HCAT is an equal opportunities employer.

Closing date for applications: 9.00am on Thursday 22nd May 2025

Interviews: Friday 23rd May 2025
