Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new engineer to join our Radiotherapy Technical Services (RTS) team. The post holder will work as part of a small team based at the Churchill Hospital (Oxford Cancer Centre). Occasional cover and assistance for our 2 satellites in Swindon & Milton Keynes will also be required so flexible working is a must. Occasional extended days and rota'd weekends will be required once competent through training., The Post holder will work with the RTS team with scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, safety testing and some quality assurance on a limited range of medical equipment used for radiotherapy treatment. They will also provide first line support for our equipment, which includes Varian linear accelerators & Siemens CT's. The Post holder will have a strong background in electronics and is required to work to high standards of safety and accountability. Knowledge of linear accelerators would be advantageous but full manufacture's training will be provided., Maintenance and repair of all radiotherapy equipment in OUH and satellites; and to facilitate manufacturer upgrades across satellites. To establish, in conjunction with the Head of RTS, safe procedures for maintenance and repair of radiotherapy equipment. To follow a formal system of Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy Physics, taking account of national quality standards and including participation in regional and national audit programmes. Ensure that all aspects of the radiotherapy technical service are provided in accordance with relevant legislation, national guidance and Trust policies. Ensure all relevant scientific and technical records of work performed are kept up to date. To maintain an up-to-date log of all Radiotherapy equipment. To develop protocols and written documentation relating to the Quality Assurance and Maintenance of equipment in line with ISO standard requirements, The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
