This is a fantastic opportunity that has become available due to the internal promotion of the previous post holder., As the Academy Manager, you will lead a dynamic team of dedicated advanced social workers to deliver our innovative 'grow your own' career development pathways. The Academy manager role incorporates the ASYE Co-ordinator role and your will be responsible for overseeing our comprehensive induction programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) including our nationally recognised ASYE programme. You will play a crucial role in implementing the new two-year induction and assessment as part of the social care reforms, ensuring our social workers are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. You will oversee our student and social work apprenticeship offers, fostering a sustainable pipeline of high-quality social workers. Your leadership will be pivotal in providing bespoke support to practitioners and social workers during their induction period and throughout their professional journey. In addition to these responsibilities, you will oversee social work recruitment activities supporting the operational practice system to track vacancies and agency social work use. This includes managing a small peripatetic social work team that covers temporary vacancies across the practice system. This team will benefit from your strategic oversight, while their day-to-day line management and supervision will be handled by the team manager of the team they are working with. You will work closely with the Principal Social Worker, who will provide your line management, supervision and support. You will also have opportunities on occasion to deputise for the Principal Social Worker, further enhancing your leadership experience.,
- Lead and manage the Effective Practice Academy, promoting a 'grow your own' approach to developing social work talent.
- Deliver the induction programme for NQSWs (currently ASYE) maintaining the current high standards and being aspirational about what we develop and offer our NQSWs as part of the social care reforms.
- Oversee the student and social work apprenticeship offers, fostering a sustainable and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with local universities, colleges, the professional development team in Adult Social Care, and other regional social work employers to maximise opportunities for learning and development, and contribute to the Humber Social Work Teaching Partnership.
- Ensure high standards of practice and the delivery of evidence-based practice across the team.
- Manage the budget based on income generation from student and NQSW programmes.
- Lead social work recruitment activity, including reporting on social work vacancies, agency social work use, and managing the peripatetic social work team.
- Provide professional leadership of specific events across the calendar year including World Social Work Day and Social Work England re-registration period.
You will need to be social work qualified (registered with Social Work England) and have strong experience of practice and experience of developing others - Evidence of a practice educator/practice assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve within one year) and demonstrable commitment to your own professional development.
- Proven track record as a supervisor and leader
- Highly developed specialist knowledge of social work practice and skills including legislative and professional frameworks
- Passionate about promoting excellent social work practice and supporting the professional development of others
- Experience in delivering training and development programmes
- Proven budget management skills
