  • Have you considered a career in talking therapies? Do you want to make a difference in helping people manage anxiety, stress and depression? Train as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies (formally Time to Talk) Training is provided in partnership with The University of Exeter and the course commences on the 9th September 2025. Applicants must be able to commence employment by 1st September 2025. The University delivers a hybrid approach to teaching, involving some face-to-face and some remote learning. The usual teaching days for the course are anticipated to be in London, on Wednesdays and Thursdays with some additional training days and teaching blocks. The remaining days will be spent in clinical practice in your designated team base. Please be aware that the closing date will be brought forward if the number of applicants exceeds the required amount for shortlisting - so please apply early., You will be part of a high-performing service which provides remote and face-to-face treatments for our patients including telephone, video and in-person appointments, with qualified staff being both home and office based. We offer flexible working, provide an 8am-8pm service and once qualified working one evening per week is required. You will receive excellent clinical supervision from a Senior PWP. You will also have the opportunity to work with CBT Therapists, Counsellors and qualified PWPs, all of whom have a reputation for being friendly and supportive of trainees. We have training posts available which will be located in Horsham West Sussex. You will need to be able and willing to travel to different sites as required in West Sussex. Travel between your work base and our locations in West Sussex will be covered by NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies expenses. We are looking for candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. This enhances trainees' learning, and we are also keen to develop a workforce that represents the diverse society in which we live. We actively encourage candidates who have non-standard qualifications and/or experiences to apply (see entry requirements attached)., b) Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self management of their recovery. c) Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume, low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include Guided Self Help, computerised low intensity CBT, and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media. d) Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. e) Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process. f) Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. g) Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives. h) This post may require the post holder to travel to other sites in the course of fulfilment of their duties. i) The service is commissioned to provide patient access 8am to 8pm and the post holder may be required to improve access to mental health services by working some out of hours sessions.
