Teacher - English (Literacy and ESOL)

Leeds City College are seeking an English Teacher to join our Adult, Community & ESOL (ACE) department. We are looking for an experienced teacher to deliver to Functional Skills literacy students and ESOL students. GCSE English is also an option. This is teaching adults only. The successful candidate will be required to work at least one evening session. Our Adult provision was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2022 and again in 2025. We teach Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 21:00 and Fridays from 09:30 to 15:00. Location is at College House (LS3 1AA) and our other centres are in LS7 1RG and LS14 6JD. What You Will Do

• Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
• Teach across the Literacy or/and GCSE English groups and ESOL groups.
• Create individual learning targets linked to learner courses.
• Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  
  You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Celta is not recognised in the UK as a full teaching qualification, but successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.
• You should have UK ESOL and Literacy based experience.
• You should have a relevant degree in English, or similar.
