About the Role

Thinking of hanging up the toolbelt?

If you are a qualified Electrician looking for better work-life balance, predictable weekday hours, and a rewarding career, Leeds City College wants to hear from you.

No prior teaching experience or qualifications are required. If you bring industry expertise, we will fully fund and support you to achieve your Level 5 Teaching Qualification on the job.

Based at our Printworks Campus, you will teach the next generation of electricians in our industry-standard workshops and sustainable tech facilities.

Say goodbye to freezing winter sites, long commutes, and weekend callouts, and join a supportive environment dedicated to your professional growth.

Why Make the Switch?

  • Competitive Package: Earning potential up to £41,912 (including base pay and ongoing market allowance).
  • Government Incentive: New teachers transitioning from industry can also apply for the DfE Targeted Retention Incentive, offering tax-free bonus payments of up to £6,000 per year.
  • Fully Funded Qualifications: We cover the full cost of your teaching credentials while you work.
  • Great Hours: Consistent 37-hour working week with regular weekday hours.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver engaging practical workshops and theory sessions for Level 2 and Level 3 Electrical Installation students and apprentices.
  • Support learners to achieve their qualifications, track their progress, and help them take their next steps into industry or higher-level training.
  • Create modern, practical learning materials that reflect real-world industry standards and emerging sustainable technologies.
  • Work alongside an experienced team at our Printworks Campus while receiving full support, mentoring, and funded training to develop your teaching expertise.
