Work on building projects around the world. As a full-time soldier, entry-level Plasterer in the British Army, you'll:

• Add finishing touches to buildings including headquarters, hospitals, and military bases


• Master trades including plaster boarding, painting, and tiling


• Become an expert in skills like glazing and scaffolding


• Carry out work on a variety of military and civilian projects


• Study for qualifications including a NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Building and Structural Finishing (Military Engineering)

Qualifications Needed:

• Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months


• Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language, and one other subject


• Be able to pass a basic fitness test

From your first day of training, you'll be gaining transferable skills that could set you up for life. You don't need to know how to do the job before you get here, because we'll give you all the training you need.

Training Steps:

• Step 1: Your initial military training teaching you how to be a soldier, which will be basic military training if you're a Junior Soldier, and adult basic training if you're a Regular Soldier.


• Step 2: 12 weeks at the Royal School of Military Engineering where you'll learn military engineering skills including demolition and bridge building.


• Step 3: 24 weeks of technical training at the Royal School of Engineering learning about dry lining, painting, wall and floor tiling, planning, and site safety.

Work Schedule:
