Full Job Description

This role is available to University of Leeds employees only
The role will be based on the university campus. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) at the University of Leeds creates transformational educational opportunities with a particular focus on students from groups under-represented in Higher Education or those who do not have traditional qualifications including mature, part-time and foundation year students, and learners on apprenticeship programmes. The Centre is a well-established unit with a dedicated team providing tailored support to students throughout their educational journey.
This is an exciting and fulfilling front-line role working with students, staff and the wider university community to design and deliver pastoral and wellbeing support to students. As a practitioner, you will work with academic and administrative teams to ensure that appropriate support is provided to students at each point of transition and development. You will support students through one-to-one support and the delivery of workshops and activities. Your work will underpin academic learning, contributing to our strategic aim to improve continuation and success of students on programme.
We are looking for a candidate with experience of providing pastoral support on individual basis and in group settings. An understanding of the support needs of diverse student cohorts is essential. You will have strong interpersonal skills to work alongside academic and administrative staff. The ability to maintain confidentiality and work with students with sensitivity and tact is essential.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to have substantive presence on campus and the willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate student needs, including offering events and workshops on evenings and weekends.
Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
