Full Job Description

Solihull Council is looking for Parking Officers to join our Parking Service team. This is a varied role where you'll help deliver the Council's parking and traffic management responsibilities, ensuring services are fair, efficient and compliant with legislation. We have opportunities for

  • Permanent - Full time, 37 hours per week
  • Fixed Term (2-years) - Full time, 37 hours per week
  • What you'll do
  • Process Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) appeals and formal representations.
  • Support the administration of parking permits and dispensations.
  • Assess evidence and make fair, evidence-based decisions.
  • Prepare cases for the Traffic Penalty Tribunal and supporting adjudication proceedings.
  • Assist with parking income reconciliation and contract management functions.
  • Respond to enquiries from residents, businesses and stakeholders by telephone, email, in writing and in person.
  • No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys balancing detailed casework with excellent customer service.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above, or a relevant Level 2 qualification
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience of parking enforcement appeals and case management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to respond to complex and difficult customer enquiries and situations.
  • Sound judgement, problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and case management systems., This post is covered by the Fluency Duty, as outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers.
