Full Job Description
At Huddersfield Grammar School, we know that a great school day starts long before students step into the classroom. That's why we're looking for a warm, reliable and friendly Home-to-School Driver to join our transport team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and takes pride in providing a safe, caring and dependable service. As one of the first people our students see each morning and one of the last at the end of the day, you'll play an important role in helping them feel welcomed, valued and ready to learn. You'll also build positive relationships with families and become a trusted ambassador for the school within the local community.
Working during term time, you'll help ensure our transport service runs smoothly, safely and efficiently, giving parents confidence that their children are in good hands. More than just a driver, you'll be an important part of our school community, helping to create a positive and reassuring start and finish to each student's day.
What you will be doing
Safely transport students to and from school on designated routes.
Complete daily vehicle inspections, defect reporting and required transport records.
Follow planned routes and ensure journeys are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with school procedures.
Maintain accurate passenger registers and transport administration.
Support the upkeep and scheduling of vehicle maintenance and servicing requirements.
Act as a professional ambassador for the school, building positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
A confident and experienced driver with a valid PSV/PCV Category D1 Licence required.
In possession of a full UK driving licence, held for at least 24 months.
A holder of a current Driver CPC qualification.
Friendly, approachable and able to communicate effectively with both adults and students.
Reliable, punctual and comfortable working split shifts.
Adaptable, organised and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and customer service.
