Full Job Description

35 hours per week. Term time including training days + 15 additional days to be worked during the school holidays (predominantly during the summer break). Based at Meadowfield Primary School and working across several primary and high schools in Temple Newsam and Inner East. We are looking for an Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join our Cluster Team and provide specialist support to vulnerable children, young people and families across our schools. As part of the Cluster Team, you will work therapeutically with children and young people experiencing a range of emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties. You will work closely with schools, families and external professionals to ensure children receive the right support at the right time. A key part of the role will be supporting children and young people who may be experiencing significant emotional distress. You will need to be confident in assessing and managing risk, developing safety plans and responding appropriately to concerns around self-harm and suicidal ideation. No two days will be the same. You could be delivering a 1:1 intervention with a young person, visiting a family at home, supporting a parent to develop strategies to improve their child's emotional resilience, attending a multi-agency meeting or working alongside colleagues to develop a holistic package of support. The post holder will work across schools in Leeds and will also be required to visit families in their homes. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle is therefore essential. As our Emotional Wellbeing Worker in the Cluster Team, you will:

  • Work in partnership with school staff to identify children and families who would benefit from emotional wellbeing support
  • Deliver therapeutic, 1:1 evidence-based interventions for children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health needs
  • Deliver family support interventions to improve emotional wellbeing and help families embed therapeutic goals
  • Work with schools, professionals, parents, carers, children and young people to assess and manage risk and provide appropriate advice and support
  • Contribute to the development of holistic support packages for children and families, working collaboratively with colleagues across the Cluster Team
  • Work with a range of professionals and services to ensure support is coordinated and responsive to individual needs
  • About the Cluster Team We are a specialist team within Red Kite Learning Trust, working with schools and partners across Leeds and Harrogate. We work closely with schools, families and partner agencies to provide comprehensive, targeted support for vulnerable children and families, helping them overcome barriers that can affect their education, wellbeing and wider life. Our aim is to provide specialist 1:1 and family support to children, young people and families experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Through our work, we seek to improve attendance, attainment, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and mental health, helping children and young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Experience of working with children and young people experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health difficulties
  • Confidence in responding to and managing concerns around self-harm and suicidal ideation
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of effective risk assessment and safety planning
  • Knowledge of strategies and resources that can support children's emotional health and resilience
  • An understanding of Early Help and multi-agency working

Generous pension scheme: Employer contribution rate of 15.30%, plus a wide range of benefits and discounts. Full details HERE
  • Flexible working options: We support work-life balance and are open to exploring suitable arrangements
  • Supportive environment: We prioritise respect, equality, diversity, and well-being
  • Community culture: Collaboration and generosity are at the heart of our team
