Make your mark for patients
We are looking for a Bio Samples Operations Specialist who is innovative and agile to join us in our Patient Solutions group based in Slough, UK (Windlesham 2027).
About the role
You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with local and international regulations governing sample-related operational activities. The role supports Research & Development units across Patient Solutions by enabling compliant, efficient, and reliable bio sample management processes. Acting as a transversal contributor for bio samples management with responsibilities extending across all UCB sites, especially as HTA/HBS administrator for Human Samples (HBS) management (Human Tissue Authority (HTA) Committee Administrator in the UK).
Who you'll work with
Reporting to the Sample Management Regulations & Operations Lead within the Patient Solutions Business Operations team. The position ensures the integrity, traceability, and regulatory alignment of bio sample operations, while partnering closely with scientific, operational, and quality stakeholders across UCB's global network. Collaborate with key stakeholders (UCB's legal, ethical, quality, and personal data privacy) aiming to maintain up-to-date policies and documentation for HBS use compliance.
What you'll do
- Act as Human Tissues Authority Committee Administrator within Human Tissue management in the UK.
- Support bio samples users to enable accurate inventory in a transversal way: especially with tracking and reporting on acquisition, use, storage, transfer, and destruction of biological samples.
- Coordinate any bio samples requests, especially HBS, ensuring compliance with local processes, donor consents, and ethical requirements applicable for each UCB research site (BE-UK).
- Manage the shared documentation websites used for bio samples related operations.
- Contribute to the administration of HBS related processes and their associated documentation in compliance with legal requirements (EU and UK), and data privacy legislation.
- Contribute to the compliance with UCB's legal, ethical, quality, and personal data privacy policies for HBS use, liaising with QA department to appropriately capture deviations/events using the eQMS quality system and ensuring CAPA.
Interested?
For this role you'll need the following education, experience, and skills:
- Graduate degree (or equivalent) in Life Sciences.
- You are well organized, with extensive computer systems skills. Competence with MS Office software is essential, experience with tracking system databases for biological samples and electronic document management systems is an asset.
- You show interest in documentation management and like working in controlled/regulated environments.
- You are able to establish and optimize trusted relationships with strategic partners, and you are capable of communicating clear instructions to partners and stakeholders.
- You have demonstrable skills for translating strategic goals into tactical deliverables.
- Are you ready to 'go beyond' to create value and make your mark for patients? If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!
