Full Job Description
As the SENDIASS Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the SENDIASS service in Birmingham which is a statutory service that works at arm's length from the local authority. Building relationships and working to an empowerment model; you will lead a team of 2 SENDIASS Managers and 8 SENDIASS Officers, ensuring that families, young people and professionals, receive high-quality, impartial information, advice and support related to SEND issues. Your role will involve strategic planning, service development, and maintaining strong partnerships with the local authority, schools, health, social care and other relevant organisations.,
- Manage and lead the SENDIASS team, providing SEND legal guidance, support, and supervision.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, impartial information, advice, and support to families and young people with SEND.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the growth and improvement of the SENDIASS service.
- Maintain strong working relationships with local authorities, schools, health services, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on the performance and impact of the service, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Organise training and development opportunities for the SENDIASS team.
- Promote awareness and understanding of SEND issues within the community.
Do you want to work within a team that is passionate about making a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families?, Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (e.g., education, social work, health). - Proven experience in a leadership role within SEND services or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective partnerships.
- Commitment to the principles of impartiality and confidentiality.
- Experience in strategic planning and service development.
