Full Job Description
Are you enthusiastic about enabling children and young people to participate in all areas of life as best they can? Do you have Band 6 or 7 experience of working in children's community services? Then we would love to hear from you!
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist. The Children's Occupational Therapy Team are based in a purpose-built centre, co-located with many other health and local authority children's services in Waltham Forest. Therapists have good access to clinical space as well as close working relations with the multi-disciplinary teams.
We are looking for an innovative therapist, to work with our team of occupational therapists and support staff, in further developing our service for children and young people, in line with our person centred, goal focussed approach.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people with complex needs and disabilities, affecting functional performance, participation and independence. You will contribute to planning and co-ordinating service delivery. You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge, highly specialist assessment and advanced therapeutic skills.
You will strive to equip children and young people to develop independence and self management; and to participate in all that supports their leading full and happy lives.
You will be passionate about further developing an effective and responsive integrated service for children and young people and their families/carers in Waltham Forest.
You will be motivated to develop your own learning, contribute to service development and the support, training and development of junior colleagues, peers and students. The successful applicant will thrive on working as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.
You will support junior staff in developing skills and managing caseloads.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).
Certificates of Sponsorship
Although we are a registered sponsor organisation, we are unable to offer sponsorship for all job roles. Please check your eligibility under the UKVI points based system.
We are looking for candidates with good organisational and time management skills who have relevant experience and are keen to continue to develop their practise in our growing Occupational Therapy team.
This post would be suitable for a Band 6 occupational therapist with children's community experience, ready to take on Band 7 responsibilities or a Band 7 therapist looking for a new challenge.
The successful applicant will thrive on working as part of a team and have excellent communication skills. The role requires close working between 5 band 7s and the clinical lead OT.
There is a well-established appraisal system and a commitment to support staff to develop leadership and clinical skills, through regular supervision and internal and external training opportunities.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in planning and co-ordinating service delivery and will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people with a wide range of difficulties, conditions, or disabilities. You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge, ability to provide highly specialist assessment and advanced therapeutic skills as well as high standards of time management and organisational skills.
