Full Job Description
Campaign Planning & Delivery
- Lead and deliver audience-led communications strategies that support council priorities
- Develop content for internal and external channels, including YourBrent Magazine and e-newsletters
- Drive positive behaviour change and resident engagement across the borough Media & Reputation Management
- Manage proactive and reactive media relations within your portfolio area
- Respond to press enquiries, write press releases, statements, and feature content
- Provide communications advice to Cabinet Members, Directors and senior stakeholders
- Lead on crisis communications where required, including out-of-hours response rota Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as lead contact for communications needs in assigned service areas
- Represent the comms team in meetings with service leads, contractors, and partners
- Ensure all communications reflect the council's voice, values, and legal obligations Content Creation & Digital Engagement
- Film and edit short-form video content and take high-quality photography
- Support paid and organic social media campaigns
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communications trends and compliance requirements
Brent Council is seeking an experienced Communications Account Manager to lead on communications delivery across a defined portfolio of services. The role requires a confident communicator who can balance reactive press handling with strategic campaign planning and content development across digital and traditional media., Knowledge and Qualifications: - Degree or professional qualification in communications, PR, or marketing
- Strong understanding of media law and local government communications guidelines
- Skilled in both traditional and digital comms, including social and internal channels Experience:
- Proven track record in managing successful communications strategies
- Experience with press, public relations, campaign delivery, and media handling
- Able to advise senior officers and members in a politically sensitive setting Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent writing and verbal communication
- Skilled in content creation (video/photo) using smartphones and editing tools
- Politically astute, resilient, and able to handle confidential information
- Willing to work evenings/weekends as part of an on-call media rota
