Job ref: 799ef86f1b50497f90a31ae544ab3d7c
Full Job Description
What will you be doing?
In this role, using your proven understanding and deep knowledge of IT operations, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the council's IT infrastructure comprising datacentres, servers, M365 services, networks and telephony operations, providing essential, reliable and quality IT services for c4,500 staff between WNC and our partners, as well as of course, for the residents of West Northamptonshire.
More importantly, you will contribute to the transformation and modernisation of the council's infrastructure from its current largely on-premise footprint, working with colleagues to assess and, where appropriate, move IT services and hosting into the cloud.
We are looking for a dynamic leader with significant team management experience in large IT operations. You will be skilled at building, managing, and developing high performance technical teams as well as having a proven track record of successfully running both on-premise and cloud hosted services within a large-scale environment, including cloud migration projects.
You will be a team player, able to form positive and productive relationships with a variety of other teams (inside and outside of IT), in order to get things done. You're the sort of person who has a passion for driving innovation and can ignite enthusiasm within the team for change! Your ability to manage budgets and deliver operational projects efficiently will be a key part of your success.
If you are looking for your next challenge, are ready to level up, and are eager to make a lasting impact and lead WNC into the future of IT, we want to hear from you!
Public sector experience would be advantageous but not essential.
At West Northants Council, it's about our people. People who thrive with ambition, bubble with new ideas, demand better ways of working, caring about every detail, and who never shy away from a challenge. Our culture is a gateway for new experiences. A place to forge new opportunities. To empower you in your career and unite you with like-minded people.
Our vision is 'to make West Northants a great place to live, work, visit and thrive'. We truly stand by this and work hard every day to make this a reality. Our corporate values, THRIVE, stand for: Trust, High Performance, Respect, Innovate and Empower, they underpin everything we do and how we deliver services.
Hear more from our Chief Executive, Anna Earnshaw, about what its like to work at West Northants Council.
We are committed to ensuring diversity, equality, equity, and inclusion is woven into the fabric of WNC and everything we do, to enable all colleagues to develop and maximize their full potential. We are a disability confident employer, a member of the Armed Forces Covenant, and a Care Leaver Covenant partner
The following film was created by us to communicate our intentions - watch WNC colleagues explain what DEI means to us.
