Full Job Description
We're looking for a dedicated Ancillary Technician to help maintain and improve our underground water distribution network on a 12 Month fixed term contract. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for servicing pressure control valves, managing flow and disinfection, and supporting the delivery of clean water to our customers. You'll investigate and resolve pressure-related issues, carry out meter repairs, and collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure efficient operations. The role also involves responding to customer concerns on-site, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and regulatory standards. If you're committed to delivering excellent service, solving problems, and making a real impact on essential infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate has significant experience or training in a utility-based industry, with strong IT skills and a background in problem-solving roles involving repairs. Desirable experience includes working with pressure reducing valves, flow modulators, maintaining distribution meters, and knowledge of water distribution networks. We are seeking someone with excellent communication and customer service skills who has the capability of explaining complex technical issues simply and interacting effectively with customers face-to-face. Being able to demonstrate an adaptable attitude, strong problem-solving abilities, sound decision-making, and accuracy in data recording will be essential. The ideal candidate is also self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team, and is skilled at prioritising their workload effectively.
Did you know the length of Severn Trent's water main pipes would wrap around the world just over once? Well, now you do. It's a big network, and a big responsibility. Every day 8 million people from Scunthorpe to Stroud rely on us to bring them clean water at the turn of a tap and take away their waste in one flush.
Working here isn't just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We'll reward you for it, too. We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential. And we'll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live. With that in mind, here are just some of our favourite's perks that you'll get being part of the Severn Trent family:
- Salary - £36,582
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)
- Annual bonus scheme (of up to £1,500 per annum based on company performance)
- Leading pension scheme - we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
- Sharesave - the chance to buy Severn Trent Plc shares at a discounted rate
- Dedicated training and development with our 'Academy'
- Family friendly policies WHATS NEXT? We can't wait to hear from you. Before you apply, you'll need an updated copy of your CV and about five minutes to spare. We'll always let you know the outcome of your application after the closing date too - so keep an eye on your phone and emails.
