The team…
We are seeking to recruit four Public Health Programme Leads to join the Public Health Team based at Gateshead Civic Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of public health and wellbeing in Gateshead.
You will join a team of motivated staff in carrying out innovative Public Health programmes and projects to drive forward the Council's commitment to improve health and wellbeing across Gateshead. Your work will be targeted on reducing health inequalities, identifying health and wellbeing related issues and planning and supporting the delivery of structured public health programmes linked to priorities identified in the Gateshead Health and Wellbeing Strategy
About the role….
Programme Lead 1 - Focus on the wider determinants of health through a collaborative, place-based approach to deliver the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Requires strong public health expertise and flexibility to work across the strategy's full scope and building blocks of health and wellbeing. Permanent post.
Programme Lead 2 and 3 - Embedded Public Health Leads will drive Health in All Policies Deep Dives, focusing on health determinants, reducing inequalities, and delivering the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. They will work with specific Council departments to support policy delivery across key building blocks of health and wellbeing. Three-year fixed term posts.
Programme Lead 4 - Children and Young People's Public Mental Health; Support the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people, focusing on giving them the best start in life. Working with the Advanced Practitioner and key stakeholders to implement the Children and Young People's Mental Health Needs Assessment recommendations, prioritising prevention, and embedding mental health outcomes into a Health in All Policies approach. Three-year fixed term post.
You will be an effective Lead with a track record of delivery of Public Health programmes and approaches. It is essential that you have a relevant public health or equivalent qualification and/or significant experience, and good knowledge of relevant public health policy and intelligence, such that you can assess and describe the needs of a defined population to inform action. You should have a track record of achieving change working across organisational boundaries. You should have experience of commissioning services and managing budgets and performance management.
