Full Job Description
- Learn on the job: Work in the heart of the University of Oxford's prestigious estates, gaining valuable experience and skills.
- Formal training: Study through day-release courses, supported by a leading training provider.
- Career growth: You will be supported by experienced craftsmen and supervisors as you develop your technical and problem-solving skills. What you'll be doing:
- Assisting with the manufacture and fitting of high-quality joinery items using a range of woodworking machinery and tools.
- Working on-site to install joinery pieces at University buildings and Colleges.
- Learning to follow detailed safety procedures and working closely with your supervisor to carry out tasks safely and effectively.
- Gaining exposure to all aspects of architectural joinery, from setting out and machining to fabrication and finishing.
A minimum of GCSE English and Maths at grade C (4) or equivalent. - A strong interest in carpentry and joinery, shown through school, hobbies, or work experience.
- A good attitude, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills and confidence in communicating with colleagues and customers.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual handling and work at heights.
