The overall aim of this role is to empower vulnerable groups within local communities to make positive choices regarding substance use including alcohol, that negatively impacts on sexual health and relationships. Focus on reducing the incidence of; sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancies including teenage pregnancies, the transmission and late diagnosis of HIV are also core components., The post holder will:

Support service users to provide information and advice in relation to substance misuse which has an increased impact on risk of HIV and STI transmission.
Improve access and signpost to appropriate services for clients with substance misuse issues
Provide health promotion and risk reduction around substance misuse
Work within a defined SOP to see clients in a sexual health setting for time limited 1:1 work specifically around risk reduction and behaviour change
Work with Outreach teams for targeted local work within axess areas and ensure robust pathways in/out of specialist in-reach clinics.

Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent, Level 3 Award in Education Qualification (or commitment to complete the qualification)
Can demonstrate continued professional development
Counselling Skills / Certificate
STIF course, Able to demonstrate experience of working with vulnerable groups in community settings
Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating multi-agency promotion programmes
Experience of delivering sexual health services to under 16's and vulnerable groups
Experience of delivering training (formal and/or informal)
Experience of delivering
Experience and knowledge of record-keeping requirements, Comprehensive knowledge of teenage pregnancy and sexual health issues/ policies
Awareness of issues specific to teenage sexual health and MSM (men who have sex with men)
Knowledge of child protection issues and procedures, including aspects involving domestic violence
Awareness of clinical governance, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate well with vulnerable people from varying backgrounds and abilities, and liaise with the multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work flexibly within a changing/evolving organisation
Ability to produce reports and have good presentation skills
Ability to represent the service at meetings and working groups
Ability to work unsupervised, under own initiative and to self-motivate.
Ability to participate in the planning, promotion and delivery of outreach services, To travel between sites (internal & external)
IT skills (e-mail, Microsoft office)
