Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Blood Transfusion team as a Band 7 Senior Biomedical Scientist at the Scarborough Hospital Site as part of the Scarborough, Hull, York Pathology Services (SHYPS) Network., The post holder will take delegated responsibility for day-to-dayoperational matters of the Blood Transfusion section of the department, and deputise for the Chief Biomedical Scientist on technical matters in their absence. They will supervise, train and develop subordinate staff,including Biomedical Scientist (BMS), Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA) ensuring that proficiency and competence and personal and professional standards of that group are maintained. The Post Holder will work closely and alongside senior BMS colleagues at the York site and to ensure harmonisation of procedures and policies and along with the Chief Biomedical Scientist that MHRA compliance and UKAS accreditation is maintained.

You must be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Biomedical Scientist, and hold an appropriate post graduate qualification that includes Blood Transfusion speciality (MSc or HSD). Experience of quality management, audit and leadership experience would be advantageous
