Full Job Description

We expect applicants to be an experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience of dissection. The successful candidate will be supported in completing the IBMS DEP in Histology Dissection.
You will be required to have good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. Previous experience of staff training is desirable as is experience of supporting accreditation to the ISO 15189 standards.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to join one of the most established pathology networked services and be part of the development of the wider Midlands and East 2 network (ME2).
Interested candidates are strongly recommended to arrange an informal visit., The primary purpose of this post is to work within a team of Advanced Practitioner Biomedical Scientists to deliver complex specimen dissection under the guidance of our Consultant Pathologist team. The post holder will also be expected to supervise specimen reception and the dissection area and support the training of Band 5 & 6 Biomedical scientists to dissect RCPath/IBMS category A to C samples.
A further core role will also be to support the management team to deliver the Directorates Quality Management requirements and ensure continued successful UKAS accreditation.
Over the last twenty years the Cellular Pathology Directorate has undertaken significant service development utilising Lean management systems to redevelop the a laboratory service ensuring optimal workflow and workforce efficiency. As a senior member of the team, the post holder will be expected to support and take an active role in continuous improvement activities and service improvements.
The department delivers a seven day service and as a senior member of the team the post holder will be expected to fully support this.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Senior Biomedical Scientist Team as an Advanced Practitioner in Cellular Pathology.

Located at Lincoln County Hospital the department delivers a centralised Histopathology service for Lincolnshire's two NHS Trusts and their five main hospital sites, receiving in the region of 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides an UKAS accredited service which includes Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining and Immunocytochemistry. In addition to this the directorate has deployed a whole slide imaging system and first line Molecular diagnostics., The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
