Full Job Description
North Tyneside's Finance team is seeking an ambitious, professional, and dynamic Finance Officer to support its Strategic Finance team, reporting to a Manager/Senior Manager providing a full range of financial management support to the Housing and Property Services SLT/MTFPate. This is a permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) position working at the heart of the Council., This role will undertake a variety of general duties within the team supporting the Principal Accountant and the Finance Co-ordinator in providing a range of management accounting services to the Housing Property Services function, but will have a primary focus relating to the Council's Housing Revenue Account:
- Providing support re Housing Management and Rent Accounting functions
- To support the Housing Property Services function which provides most of the authorities Repairs and Construction requirements across all areas of service. Due to the nature of the role, housing or repairs and construction accounting experience is also welcomed. The post holder's main place of work will be at our office in Killingworth. North Tyneside is a well-run Council with a track record of delivering good-quality services while managing to balance the Budget. The challenge for the future will be to continue to do so despite reduced government funding and increasing demands.

Ideally applicants must be either AAT-qualified, part-qualified accountants or equivalent with excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Candidates should also have strong Excel skills and an understanding of local government finance. A good understanding of the issues facing local government, knowledge of general ledger systems and experience of working on major projects would also be desirable but not essential.
