Assistant Financial Controller
Temporary Maternity Cover Position (1 Year)

Hours: 40 hours per week, including an unpaid lunch break

Drive financial precision and support key decisions as our Assistant Financial Controller (Maternity Cover).
The finance team currently manages £35-40 m per annum and our portfolio is continually growing. This is a great role for someone who is looking for their next career move to work in an environment which exposes them to all the commercial aspects of a finance department. Our expectation is that you will have sound financial experience, with an advanced understanding and application of MS Excel skills and accounting software; with a clear focus on continuously improving technology within a finance team. We are looking for someone to join the Team in August / early September at the latest.
Ideally you will have the below skills, knowledge and experience:
- Financial Qualifications required (or working towards)
- Highly computer literate with advanced skills in Excel, Word and Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent numeracy and communication skills alongside attention to detail and a keen problem solver.
- Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external clients and suppliers.
- Ability to identify and work to accounts processing deadlines and manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Assist the Financial Controller in producing monthly management accounts to strict deadlines.
- Experience of payroll and processing payroll elements (desirable.)
- Manage, develop and motivate a finance team (Credit Control and Invoicing Departments)
- Familiarity with audit preparation.
- Understanding of labour-heavy operations - dealing with payroll complexities, scheduling, and cost control per contract / client / site (desirable).
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Supporting the implementation and enhancement of finance systems and reporting tools.
- Driving process improvement and automation within the finance function.
