Full Job Description
We have an excellent opportunity for a Lead Accountant to join us at our DS Smith Business Services Centre in Caerphilly. The main purpose of the role is to assist in the delivery of a world class accounting service to the business. In this role you'll be using your experience to carry out monthly and annual accounting duties, applying your knowledge to various problems, and learning more about the industry so that we can constantly tailor our processes going forward. You'll work closely with colleagues throughout DS Smith, including at the Business Service Centre and at our Group Head Office. Within this role you'll be accountable for :
- Managing the production of annual statutory accounts
- Responsibility for VAT and PSA returns
- A focus on corporate governance and internal audit as UK SOX policies are implemented
- Working in conjunction with other members of the team to continuously improve processing and reporting
- Liaising and supporting Group and Divisional requirements
- Dealing with auditors and year end within the period cycle activates
- Working with and / or lead user groups in implementing standardised processes and improvements across the board
- Supporting Business Services initiatives including cross-departmental projects and work transfer activities
Experienced accountant with up to date knowledge to apply accounting standards (UKGAAP / IFRS) - Professionally qualified (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
- Experience using ERP systems, including SAP
- Track record of providing accounting / reporting services
- Knowledge of manufacturing and shared service environments would be advantageous
