Full Job Description

The primary purpose of the Tax Manager is to be responsible for global tax compliance for the group, covering multiple territories for both direct and indirect taxes. This provides rare exposure to the tax compliance and reporting requirements across a broad range of taxes and territories. We are looking for someone with a strong technical accounting/tax background who, alongside our established external advisors, can support the business on the impact of the ever-changing tax landscape. What You Will Be Doing

  • Corporation tax filings, and compliance for Charles Tyrwhitt across the UK, US and French entities. This will include managing interim payments, accounting and forecasting for tax, all assisted by local advisors in each of these territories.
  • Ownership and continued reviews of transfer pricing policies across the Group
  • Maintain the Tax Risk Register, including continual reviews and a formal annual review with the Senior Accounting Officer
  • Liaise with a variety of departments across the business to inform of the impact of tax changes on any commercial decisions
  • Management of all customs duty compliance, as well as close monitoring of the fast-moving US tariff landscape
  • Manage and review the monthly submissions of US Sales Tax
  • Manage and review all UK, EU and ROW Vat and GST returns
  • Investigate the compliance requirements of any new potential territories for the business
  • Management and development of two tax analysts
  • Act as first point of contact for all global tax authorities

A relevant accounting or tax qualification
  • Strong technical experience, gained within a tax department, audit firm and/or financial accounting team.
  • Experience in building strong relationships both with internal stakeholders and external advisors
  • A broad appreciation of financial accounting areas such as UK GAAP, Tax and VAT.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Excel and an aptitude to interrogate the in-house ERP systems.
  • A persistence to investigate any issues and their root causes, with an ability to manipulate large data sets to reach these conclusions.
  • Applies high level of accuracy to tasks, with an eye for detail.
  • Strong communicator with key stakeholders both within and outside the finance department.
  • An aptitude to learn and quickly develop a deep understanding of new technical areas.

Once upon a shirt, Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler (whilst studying Geography at Bristol University - we might add) had the notion that he could make a better shirt at better value than anyone else in the world! He believed that all men; no matter their shape or size, where they may be in the world or indeed their budget; should be able to own a Jermyn Street quality shirt. A proper shirt. A CT shirt. That was over 3 decades ago and whilst Charles Tyrwhitt (it rhymes with spirit by the way) is still famous for proper shirts, these days we are about so much more than collars and cuffs. Our purpose is to "make it easy for men to dress well". We take care of a chap's entire wardrobe, providing stylish solutions for every occasion. We make sure he gets what he wants, when and how he wants it.

Competitive salary and excellent bonus scheme
  • An entrepreneurial environment where you'll be encouraged to try things and make changes to drive the business forward
  • You'll have access to Staff Discount from your 1st day, not just at CT but also from The White Company!
  • Our hybrid working policy means we work from the office 3-4 days per week (14 days onsite across a 4 week period, and Monday's are our set days in the office)
  • We are proud to go about our business in the right way and partner with many charities and sustainability partners - 'giving something back' is an important part of our ethos
  • At HQ we are serious about having fun. Our Christmas and summer parties are the stuff of legend and our CT Social Team ensure there is always something exciting to get involved in)
