Safeguarding Officer

Are you a passionate safeguarding professional committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people?

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Wellbeing team and play a key role in promoting the safety, wellbeing and success of our students.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in safeguarding and child protection, ideally gained within a social work, education or related setting. You will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary Wellbeing team, providing support to students and, where appropriate, making referrals to Children's and Adult Social Care and other specialist services.

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional communicator who thrives in partnership working. You will build strong relationships with colleagues, students and external agencies, taking a lead role in multi-agency working to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.

The role requires excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload, maintain accurate records and coordinate support effectively. A keen eye for detail, sound professional judgement and the ability to prioritise competing demands are essential.

In return, you will join a supportive and dedicated team, working in a rewarding environment where your expertise will have a direct impact on students' lives.

Key requirements:

  • Extensive experience in safeguarding and child protection.
  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working effectively with multi-agency partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence in managing sensitive information and maintaining accurate records.
  • A commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Please note that some occasional evening work (for example a case where a referral has been in progress during the day and runs on after 5pm) will be required as part of this role.

Interviews will be held on w/c 5th October 2026

As a College we are required to undertake various Safer Recruitment checks as set out within the guidance from the Department for Education Keeping Child Safe in Education. We require all staff to undertake an enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS Check and to register with the DBS Update Service. From 28 November 2020, changes were made to the DBS filtering rules. As DBS certificates issued before this date may have been produced under different filtering arrangements, we are unable to rely on an Update Service status check for certificates issued before 28 November 2020. In these circumstances, a new DBS application will be required
