Hendon Prep is a warm, inclusive and nurturing independent preparatory school where every child is known, supported and encouraged to succeed. We pride ourselves on strong relationships, high standards of care, and a commitment to enabling students to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
Our community values kindness, resilience and a love of learning. We offer a broad and engaging curriculum alongside a rich co-curricular programme, ensuring that children from Preschool through to Year 6 flourish and reach their full potential. Safeguarding and student wellbeing are central to all aspects of school life.
About the role
At Hendon Prep, we believe exceptional learning begins with an exceptional environment. We're seeking a proactive and highly organised Site & Facilities Manager to lead the management, maintenance and future development of our school estate, ensuring our facilities continue to inspire students, staff and visitors alike.
This is far more than a caretaking role. As a key member of the school's leadership team, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe, compliant and welcoming environment while helping shape the long-term future of our facilities.
Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you'll take responsibility for the overall management of the school's buildings, grounds and facilities. You'll oversee compliance, maintenance programmes, contractor management and capital projects, while also providing practical support where required.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled facilities professional who enjoys both strategic responsibility and being actively involved in the day-to-day operation of a busy and thriving school
What you will be doing
Lead the management and maintenance of the school site, buildings and grounds.
Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, fire safety and statutory regulations.
Manage planned preventative maintenance and oversee reactive repairs.
Coordinate contractors, suppliers and service providers, ensuring high-quality standards.
Deliver site improvement, refurbishment and estate development projects.
Maintain accurate compliance, maintenance and risk management records.
Manage facilities budgets and site resources effectively.
Oversee specialist learning environments and technical equipment.
Support school events, educational visits and operational activities, including minibus driving where required.
What you will bring
We're looking for a proactive and organised facilities professional who can confidently manage a busy school site while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and presentation.
Experience in facilities, premises, estates or site management.
Strong knowledge of health and safety and compliance requirements.
Experience managing contractors, maintenance programmes and site projects.
Excellent organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills.
Practical maintenance skills and a hands-on approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
A full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
Facilities Management qualification.
Experience working in a school or educational setting.
Knowledge of compliance systems and statutory testing.
D1 entitlement or experience driving minibuses.
Understanding of independent school estates and compliance requirements.
