Full Job Description

This pioneering collaboration between Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, & the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals is a unique training program with the opportunity to work in world leading research and clinical training centres across London. The program is a 24mth programme rotating between St Thomas' Hospital & Royal Brompton Hospital. Trainees will gain experience in simple and complex cardiac electrophysiology & devices. There will be opportunities to be involved in very complex electrophysiology, trialling & developing new technologies, & even 'first in man' procedures.

Suitable for trainees:

ST6 or near training completion.

Previous experience in cardiac electrophysiology should be essential

Completion of MRCP

Up to date ALS training

General cardiology training experience

Although this appointment is not accredited for training, the appointees will be expected to participate fully in the educational & training programmes within the department & hospital. Appointees will have a named educational supervisor. Annual & study leave is commensurate with other post-foundation doctors.

Throughout the training programme, didactic teaching sessions will be held as well as opportunities to attend courses. We also provide our trainees with access to Heart Rhythm Society online with >200 hours of online educational CPD and lectures available. Over the last few years we have developed a state of the art Cardiac Simulation Suite at the St Thomas' site.

This post represents a unique opportunity for fellows to both hone their own practical skills but also mentor and train junior colleagues.

Fellows whilst on rotation at the St Thomas' site will be scheduled for 1 session (4 hours) of teaching and development within the Cardiac Arrhythmia Simulation Programme. There will also be opportunities for research, audit, clinical governance involvement and service improvement., Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK's best known hospitals - Guy's, St Thomas', Evelina London Children's Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.
