Full Job Description

Sensory Consumer Science Excellence (SCSE) is a consumer product experience research team within Reckitt R&D, challenged with developing and delivering innovation. We are focused on embedding consumer centric insight, preference and appeal into product propositions early in the product development process. SCSE are responsible for the interpretation of consumer needs and market opportunities (provided by category marketing, Insights & Analytics and Medical Science) into product embodiments or, with the support of category colleagues, new business opportunities outside of physical product-in-box.

As a team, we are responsible for building consumer sentiment into the product innovation programs of R&D; through leading the design, planning and management of innovation in-the-field, consumer observation, provocation, prototyping and other consumer-product touch point activities. SCSE is multi-disciplinary and autonomous in the strategy it employs to deliver against its objectives requiring leadership and sound business understanding from all team members.

This role will report into the Centre of Excellence Manager, and will support the development of purposeful functional SOP's with effective roll out and implementation across SCSE & R&D, upskilling our teams to the highest level of industry best practice., Support the development of best in class global policies, procedures, and capabilities for our functional consumer research, across our diverse portfolio of brands and categories; to enable consumer research across all geographies, ensuring appropriate risk management, safety, and compliance.
-Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), to ensure they are always relevant, current, approved and fit for purpose.
-Provide immersive training, roll out and implementation of all SOP, best practices, and ways of working to our global SCSE team members, upskilling our teams to the highest level .
-Partner with SME's to facilitate training and development of sensory and consumer best practices for Health & Nutrition colleagues.
-Be an active member of our COP, to drive global best practices for sensory and consumer research for our diverse portfolio of brands and products.
-Establish a Reckitt approved network of internal and external sensory research partners to serve our diverse portfolio of categories.
-Co-lead Consumer Suite renovation in Hull, to create an engaging, usable space for sensory & consumer research aligned to business needs.
-Provide support to the wider SCSE team of consumer product insight studies.
-Support trials of new consumer approaches and methodologies to gain and explore superior and emerging behaviours and insights.
-Collaborate with the Centre of Excellence manager to identify new external partners that can offer new techniques and methodologies, that enhance measurement or collection of human product solution insight.
-Build relationships with core agencies to offer value add consumer capability for internalisation.
-Ensure that all consumer work complies with Market Research codes of best practice and that data protection requirement are adhered to.
-Promote and maintain a safe working environment through compliance with established company and regulatory policies.

Degree in a Food Science, Social Science, or psychological discipline and/or industry qualification in market research / consumer science disciplines.
-Proven consumer research experience in consumer health companies and product categories, with experience in designing and conducting qualitative & qualitative consumer research studies.
-Proven ability to create and write standardised, best in class procedures (SOPs) and risk management.
-A passion for training and coaching sensory and consumer science best practices, for our R&D community, with the ability to translate technical information to non-technical colleagues.
-An excellent collaborator with experience in working with diverse, cross functional teams and the ability to foster new internal & external partnerships.
-Confident in presenting to small/medium groups and senior management.
