- Starting and finishing on your driveway, with demand-led shifts averaging 40 hours per week and optional overtime available.
- A structured development programme with hands-on learning, ongoing support and the opportunity to achieve accreditation through the motor industry's professional body, the IMI.
What you'll need...
- Either: NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
Investing in your technical development
At the RAC, we're committed to helping our technicians grow their skills and build long-term careers. Whether you're looking to broaden your expertise or continue developing your diagnostic capability, we'll support you every step of the way.
About the role
As a Roadside Technician within our Patrol division, you'll deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency breakdown support across the UK. Whether it's a flat battery, tyre change, or complex fault-finding, you'll provide quick, confident solutions and reassurance when our members need it most.
You'll work independently to diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely. Every day brings different challenges, new environments and the opportunity to make an immediate impact when people need the RAC most.
You'll combine technical expertise with great customer service, using the latest diagnostic technology to identify faults and get members back on the road quickly and safely. You'll be trusted to make decisions, supported to develop your skills and equipped with everything you need to succeed.
If you're looking for greater variety, more autonomy and a career that takes your skills beyond the workshop; this is the role for you.
