Senior Research Technician (Biological)

Open to current University of Leeds employees only

Grade 6 (£33,951 - £39,906 p.a. depending on experience).

This role is campus based, 5 days per week.

Are you enthusiastic, well organised and versatile, with a strong motivation to support research? Do you have experience in working in a research or teaching laboratory environment, in particular in CL2 lab spaces, and wish to use your skills and experience to support our busy research laboratories and help support our academic staff and industrial partners?

The post-holder will oversee and manage the day-to-day running of tissue culture and microbiological facilities across the school sites, including upkeep, user inductions, equipment and safety systems management.

You will be the technical lead for human studies across the school, providing support in protocol setup and induction to working within the human study areas, along with management of facilities and primary contact for storage, carriage and shipment of biological substances both internal and external to the University. You will design and support protocols carrying out biological and molecular biology analyses of different biological samples.

You will be the School Biological Safety Officer, providing advice and support on all matters relating to the use of biological agents within the school.

The post-holder will have excellent organisational skills with experience of working in a research or teaching laboratory environment, particularly CL2 lab spaces.
