Full Job Description

Applications are invited for an economist to work in the Department of Global Health and Development on a project exploring evidence informed priority setting to inform Health Benefit Package (HBP) Design for Universal Health Coverage in Rwanda and Kenya. The postholder's role will include:
o Contributing to work on understanding the economic consequences of health benefit package design and the resulting policy changes
o Supporting a capacity strengthening programme around HBP design in Rwanda and Kenya
o Contributing to written outputs
The postholder will be part of the Global Health Economics Centre, a world-leading group of over 100 academics working on a diverse portfolio of health economics research.

The post-holder must hold a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant discipline. They will have expertise in health economics and financing in low- and middle-income countries, as well as strong quantitative analytical skills.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 30 September 2028. The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and is available from 01 October 2026.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary "Wellbeing Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
