Full Job Description
To undertake research into the collection of sculpture and sculptural fragments in the Department of Greece and Rome, in support of the Museum's Masterplan, the Museum Operating Plan and all relevant Museum strategies. Key areas of responsibility:
- To undertake research into the sculptural collection in the Department of Greece and Rome and accompanying archival material
- To support the documentation and digitisation of the sculptural collection, working closely with the Recovery Team, the Curatorial Team, and Collection Managers
- To contribute to the updating and revising of the documentation of the collection, including the reconciliation of duplicate records
- To research the conservation and management of the sculptural collection through the department's history
- To promote the collection and the importance of collection documentation
- To disseminate lessons learned from the project
BA/BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (eg. archaeology) - An understanding of the workings of a collection-based organisation
- Experience of independent research
- Experience of working with collection-based archives (eg. registers, historic photographs)
- Experiencing of researching within a museum collection using wide-ranging forms of documentation
- Ability to interact confidently with a variety of internal stakeholders
- Ability to work on their own to direction
- Strong time-management skills
