Full Job Description

This is a leadership role responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust performance assurance framework, providing confidence to senior leadership that operational delivery, contractual commitments and reporting obligations are being effectively managed and evidenced. A strong understanding of data, analytics and KPI reporting will be essential. You will use data to identify trends, test performance, challenge assumptions and provide clear insight to support decision-making at senior levels.,

  • Support the Head of Operational Performance in developing and maintaining a robust operational assurance framework.
  • Provide assurance that business rules and work-based instructions are clearly defined, understood and consistently applied.
  • Review operational processes and controls to identify gaps, risks, inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide assurance over contractual deliverables, ensuring performance requirements are understood, measurable and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Develop and maintain effective KPI and performance reporting, ensuring measures are accurate, meaningful and aligned to strategic and contractual requirements.
  • Analyse operational data to identify trends, exceptions, emerging risks and areas requiring management attention.
  • Challenge performance information where appropriate, testing the quality, completeness and integrity of underlying data.
  • Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear, concise insight for senior stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to understand the causes behind performance results and ensure appropriate actions are identified.
  • Support the development of performance dashboards, management information and assurance reports.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes, business rules and performance measurement.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of contractual and operational requirements and ensure these are reflected in performance measures and assurance activity.

    Experience working in operational performance, business assurance, contract performance, governance or a similar environment
  • Strong experience of data analysis and KPI reporting, with the ability to interrogate data and identify meaningful insights
  • Experience developing, managing or challenging performance measures and management information
  • A strong understanding of how business rules, processes, work instructions and contractual requirements translate into measurable operational outcomes
  • The confidence to challenge established practices and ask the right questions when performance or compliance does not provide sufficient assurance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • The ability to interpret complex information and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel or equivalent
  • The ability to build effective relationships across operational, commercial and senior leadership teams
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and influence others without relying solely on formal authority
