Full Job Description

The Kingfisher Mother and Baby Unit is an 8 bedded unit providing specialist inpatient mental health care for up to 8 women during the perinatal period. This is an exciting opportunity for a cook to work for us 15 hours per week. We will provide a full induction on recruitment and regular peer support., The successful candidates will be supporting us with providing meals for our service users. This will include meal planning, buying the food, daily preparation, cooking and serving. There will be a requirement to work flexibly within this role with some weekend work. You will have autonomy in the development of bespoke menus in collaboration with the clinical team and mothers on the unit. Delivering high quality meals that promote optimum physical health to inpatients, weaning babies, family and staff on request with support of the dietician. You will liaise with food suppliers, local supermarkets and independent stores to meal plan cost effectively within an allocated budget each week. You will work directly with the mothers and clinical team to ensure individual dietary requirements and likes are met. You will also deliver health promotion groups focussed on nutrition and culinary skills. Positive previous examples have been smoothie groups or simple quick and nutritious recipe ideas for all of the family. You will have autonomy to offer creativity to the role. You will supervise a cook, providing oversight, direction and safe management of the catering facility. Working together you will deliver meals on a shift rotation ensuring meal provision to the MBU over 14 hours per week. Typical working hours are from 10:30 - 18:30 providing lunch and evening meals..
