Full Job Description

You will be at the heart of our library's daily operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users from the Library Welcome Desk. Your role will involve assisting in-person with general user access and lending tasks, including greeting visitors and supporting membership procedures. You'll provide guidance on accessing resources, collections, and services, offer support for digital resources and printing services. Additionally, you'll address information enquiries, library account queries, book retrieval and help manage our learning spaces, ensuring a positive and inclusive library experience for everyone.

The post holder will work on campus afternoon and evening hours, Monday to Friday, throughout the year. The expected working pattern is 16:00 - midnight but there may be some flexibility on an individual basis (please speak to Catherine Batson c.batson@surrey.ac.uk if you would like to discuss this)., We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service, who can deal with multiple enquiries at our busy Library Welcome Desk as well as online.
You will be proactive, well organised, reliable and a be a great communicator, delivering services with a smile. You will be able to work independently, have good IT skills, and be the main point of contact for any issues that arise.
