Full Job Description

Learning Support Assistants

Up to 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (7 hours per day between 8.45am – 5pm), term time. Full and part time available.

Salary up to £19,683 per annum

To work at City College Norwich and Easton College sites

Make a Real Difference Every Day

Are you passionate about supporting students to achieve their full potential? Do you thrive in dynamic environments where no two days are the same? We are looking for a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team, working across our Easton and Norwich campuses.

This is not your typical classroom-based role — you’ll be at the heart of student life; you will be working with a range of students across the wider college environment. Supporting students with special educational needs, neurodivergences and complex medical and personal care needs across a wide range of settings. You could be classroom based or beyond from an engineering workshop to assisting in real-world learning environments like our hair and beauty salon. Helping students fully access practical, vocational learning experiences as well as in English, maths and subject theory classes.

Some of our students require personalised care and support both within our inclusive learning programmes and within the main college. But wherever you are placed, you will enable students with additional needs to participate confidently and safely in learning, and help them build strong, supportive relationships that empower students to grow in independence and confidence.

What Makes This Role Exciting

A varied role spanning multiple campuses and diverse learning environments

Opportunities to work alongside industry-standard facilities and teaching spaces

Direct impact on students’ lives — whether academic or their personal development.

A role where no two days are the same

We’re committed to your growth too. You will be supported to work towards a relevant qualification, with the expectation to be qualified within 3 years, build specialist skills in supporting students with complex needs and gain experience in both academic and practical/vocational settings.

You’ll be empathetic, patient, and resilient. Comfortable working across different locations and environments. Passionate about inclusive education and student wellbeing and adaptable — equally at ease in a classroom, workshop, or salon

This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, inclusive college community, where you can make a tangible difference every single day while developing your own career.

As a College we are required to undertake various Safer Recruitment checks as set out within the guidance from the Department for Education Keeping Child Safe in Education. We require all staff to undertake an enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS Check and to register with the DBS Update Service. Please note: From 28 November 2020 the government implemented changes to the filtering rules, and we have been instructed that we cannot accept any update service checks on DBS certificates that have been issued before this date. Therefore, a new one must be completed with City College Norwich.
