Lead Technician - Institute of Design Robotics & Manufacturing

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineering technician with proven management abilities? Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge? Do you want to make a difference to world class research and teaching activities? We are looking for a professional and proactive individual with a good team working ethos to join our technical team in the Institute of Design, Robotics and Manufacturing (iDRaM), within the School of Mechanical Engineering, to act as first point of contact to ensure a professional technical service is provided. In this varied and interesting role, you will strengthen our research and teaching capabilities by providing specialised technical expertise, overseeing the running of the iDRaM laboratories and teaching spaces (including the application and use of a range of materials testing equipment for undergraduate projects and research), and leading the management and development of our team of technicians. As well as the day to day technical management, you will work with students, researchers, and academics to provide advice and support on experimental techniques and methods, the practical requirements of laboratory and workshop courses, and the use and purchase of specialist equipment.
