Grave Digger

• Summer Hours - 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Winter Hours - 32 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
An opportunity has arisen for a committed and respectful individual to join our Parks & Open Spaces team as a Grave Digger. This role is an important part of delivering sensitive and professional cemetery services to our communities and the successful candidate will undertake grave digging and interment duties in a safe, dignified and respectful manner while assisting with the ongoing maintenance and presentation of cemetery grounds and associated parks areas. Duties will include:
• Preparing, locating and digging graves including shoring and shuttering
• Assisting with burials and interments
• Maintaining cemetery grounds including grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, planting, seeding and turfing
• Reinstating cemetery plots to support grounds maintenance activities
• Operating tools, machinery and horticultural equipment safely
• Assisting with emergency works including the removal of fallen trees
• Providing assistance, guidance and support sensitively to members of the public and bereaved families
  
  Contractual hours: 37
