We're here to help., Are you a talented researcher in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence with a demonstrable passion for outreach and an interest in antimicrobial resistance?
This new Fellowship on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is part of Google DeepMind's Academic Fellowship Programme, which aims to support groundbreaking postdoctoral research in Computer Science and AI.
This post is hosted in collaboration with the Fleming Initiative, an exciting new partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College NHS Trust combining research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions to AMR.
AMR occurs when microbes such as bacteria and fungi adapt and become resistant to the drugs we use to kill them and treat infections. Such drug-resistant infections have the potential to become a global humanitarian crisis, responsible for at least 8 million lives lost yearly by 2050.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

The appointed fellow will be encouraged to pursue any research direction they wish at the intersection of AI and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
You will be expected to work collaboratively with researchers in AMR, as well as those within your own discipline, developing the interdisciplinary capabilities needed to tackle any aspect of this global threat. The former may include; physicians, pharmacists, epidemiologists and/or behavioural scientists depending on the scope of your proposed project.
You will also be expected to develop and deliver outreach activities around Computing/AI as well as participating in a range of public-facing engagement activities run by the Fleming Initiative.
