Role Overview
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing excellent support to our customers while installing and maintaining diagnostic instrumentation and systems in hospitals and laboratory environments. You'll be the face of Beckman Coulter, supporting our customers to directly impact patient healthcare.
This position reports to the Field Technical Service Manager and is part of the UK Field Service team, working remotely within diagnostic pathology laboratories and other NHS and private healthcare facilities, predominately covering the Northumbria area.
Opportunities in this role include:
- Complete fault diagnosis, repairs, preventative maintenance, modifications, installations and decommissions of a range of diagnostic medical equipment including Immunoassay, Chemistry and Haematology diagnostic analysers, as well as automated track systems.
- Represent Beckman Coulter on site, delivering a professional, customer-focused service and ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.
- Partner with the customer to not only resolve technical issues but maximize the instrument's usage. Develop and build knowledge to understand the industry, the company, the products, and the team, supported by a clear personal development plan.
Essential Requirements
- Field service experience in a laboratory setting, or comparable environment, servicing diagnostic instrumentation.
- Strong troubleshooting communication skills with proven experience delivering outstanding customer-focused service.
- Relevant qualification, such as BSc, HND or HNC, in Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Travel & Other Requirements
- Ability to travel to customer sites up to 100% of the time.
- A full UK driver’s license.
- Ability to participate on a planned on-call rota to provide out-of-hours remote customer support as required.
Additional Preferred Experience
- Experience working with instrumentation software and firmware modifications and upgrades.
- Experience using service reporting software.
- Knowledge of medical device regulations and compliance requirements.
