Full Job Description

University of the Arts London is looking for a skilled Technician with experience of exhibition installation to join a dynamic team at London College of Fashion (LCF).

As part of the Technical Team, you will support the delivery of our Cultural Programme, Graduate/Postgraduate projects, and other creative outputs that showcase the college, its students and graduates, and industry collaborations to local, national and international audiences.

You will play a key role in the production, installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and project space shows, as well as displays, photoshoots, catwalks, performances and creative projects. Drawing on your excellent practical skills, initiative and problem-solving, you will support the technical aspects of these projects, including art handling and the installation of objects, prints, garments, video and digital works, as well as the hanging of framed works and condition checking.

You will also contribute to the ongoing maintenance of exhibitions, the fabrication of plinths and exhibition furniture, painting, and the installation of graphics, captions and printed materials.

About you

You will be an all-round Technician who can bring a broad skill set across both physical and digital production and a confident, adaptable approach to working within a fast-paced creative environment.

You will demonstrate specialist knowledge or qualifications, including a strong understanding of museum, gallery and cultural sector exhibition installation practices and ways of working, alongside significant and relevant experience in a similar role within a comparable creative organisation. Previous experience of object handling and condition checking is essential, as is experience of working with hand tools, power tools, working at height and with AV equipment in an exhibitions or events context.
