We have an opportunity for an experienced ER Advisor to join our team on a fixed term contract to provide advice and guidance to our managers and employees.

You'll take a commercial, people-centred and resolution focused approach to ER Advice as well as contributing to wider people vision projects.

We're a very supportive People Services team and there are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development. We're looking for an individual with enthusiasm, commercial awareness and experience of providing advice to managers and employees on ER matters.

You'll be part of a wider People Services team based in Bristol made up of Talent Acquisition and Resourcing, Learning and Development, People Operations, Employee Relations and Business Partnering and will work in a large law firm of approximately 500 people.

Hybrid workingWorking from our Bristol office 2 days per week and remotely 3 days per week.

Key responsibilities

Delivering the ER Service and people-related activities across the company;

Supporting line managers with specific ER queries with the aim of delivering a people-centred employee relations culture which is resolution-focused and improve business outcomes;

Advising on a wide range of ER matters, including but not limited to: flexible working requests, performance management, grievances, restructures, disciplinary and health & wellbeing;

Co-ordinating formal ER meetings and providing active support to managers conducting investigations, hearings and appeals;

Continually supporting and upskilling managers to competently and confidently manage people issues/concerns in their groups and divisions;

Oversight and appropriate flagging of any high-risk processes e.g. gross misconduct allegations, claims of discrimination, whistleblowing;

Supporting managers to maintain good quality and compliant records of any informal/formal people processes, decisions made and the outcomes of those processes, for their groups and divisions;

Reviewing and communicating employee relations policies, standards and compliance expectations;

Keeping up to date with employment law changes and implement any necessary changes to ER processes;

Adhering to UK legislation, employment regulations, GDPR, ACAS codes of practice and established company policies and procedures for compliant employee relations policies, systems, records and practices;

Collaborating with the wider People Services team to support on cross-team matters;

Participating in any People Services projects as required.

Experience of working at advisor level in an HR team;

Sound understanding of employment law and its application;

Ability to build relationships by understanding the needs and drivers of others;

Must be resourceful and proactive;

Experience of Microsoft Office and related systems.
