Full Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Head of Curriculum for Motor Vehicle and Construction to support with leading the study programme and adult learning offer at our Engineering and Construction campus. Our provision (graded Good by Ofsted in December 2023) covers key trade areas including carpentry, brick, multi skills, electrical, plumbing and motor vehicles. There are over 600 study programme students enrolled across our curriculum offer within this area and we are proud of our achievement rates which are significantly above the sector average.
This is an exciting time to join the College and support this provision through some significant changes. Our vision is to continue to improve our achievement and learner experience across all delivery, to further our relationships with local and regional employers to continue to meet current and future skills needs, and to further the work already in place to develop and embed sustainable construction methods and technologies within the learning offer. This role will require to work closely with the Head of Curriculum for Engineering and Construction. You will need to be a dynamic and inspirational leader whilst have a clear focus on successful outcomes for learners. You will require a thorough understanding of quality processes with a focus on improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, whilst ensuring that your area of responsibility is compliant with all college systems and policies.

About the organisation:
North Hertfordshire College, part of Hart Learning Group operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin and includes business operations Hart Learning and Development (our Employer and Apprenticeship arm). As a college, we have over 650 staff and a turnover of circa £30m.
The Engineering and Construction campus is located in Stevenage and is home to our learning offer across construction trades, motor vehicles and trade apprenticeships.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage the agreed quality processes and systems; course review, internal/external verification, student satisfaction, learning platform and lesson observations; work with colleagues across the designated curricula to deliver a quality focused student experience, which engages, inspires and prepares students for the world of work
Input into the development and evolution of a responsive, relevant, curriculum offer, which complements that offered by the Schools Trust sponsored by the college; work with marketing, communications and events colleagues to define a clear proposition to individual students of all ages within the curriculum responsibility
Teach a minimum of 340 hours on a range of courses, as required, demonstrating high standards of teaching, learning and attainment, whilst ensuring continuous improvement in own teaching to support positive student outcomes
Work with the head of curriculum and other colleagues to ensure the timetabling and delivery of the college's model for teaching and learning is effective; ensure that the model is consistently applied and embedded across the curriculum(s) of responsibility
With the head of curriculum and quality and innovation colleagues, create and deliver a personalised teaching and learning support plan for teaching staff, whilst ensuring each plan provides inspiration and direction required to deliver outstanding teaching and learning
To support the head of curriculum with the creation of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and the execution of the subsequent Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to ensure that the curriculum area(s) continue to progress to excellence
Work with colleagues across the college to ensure we are providing necessary safeguarding support for students
