Full Job Description
The Diocese of Westminster is seeking a dedicated and highly organised individual to undertake 12-month fixed term maternity cover work as a DBS Administrator to support the delivery of safer recruitment practices across the Diocese. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working with detailed processes, managing confidential information and delivering excellent customer service. You will play a vital role in supporting safeguarding by ensuring DBS applications for clergy, employees and volunteers are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with DBS requirements.About the Role Reporting to the DBS and Parish Safeguarding Manager, you will be responsible for the administration of DBS checks and related safer recruitment processes across the Diocese. Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing DBS applications for clergy, employees and parish volunteers.
- Verifying documentation and carrying out in-person ID checks.
- Maintaining accurate records and updating safeguarding databases.
- Ensuring confidential information is managed and stored securely.
- Monitoring DBS disclosures and escalating any concerns appropriately.
- Building positive relationships with parish safeguarding representatives and other stakeholders.
- Supporting the wider Safeguarding Office and contributing to team objectives.
We're seeking someone who is not only competent in administration but who also embodies our diocesan values of Competence, Reliability, Honesty, Perseverance, and Love. - An experienced administrator with excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- A confident communicator who can build effective working relationships with clergy, employees, volunteers and external stakeholders.
- Able to prioritise competing deadlines and manage sensitive information with complete discretion.
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently and use initiative.
- Adaptable, proactive and capable of solving problems in a thoughtful and professional manner.
- Knowledgeable about, or interested in learning about, the Catholic Church and its structure. Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcomed but not essential.
