Full Job Description

The Clinical Engineering department are responsible for trust wide management of medical devices. Staff are based at two main departments within Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital and also serve various community hospitals and clinics throughout the Bradford region. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintenance and repair of a wide range of highly specialist medical devices.,

  • Planned preventive maintenance and calibration of a wide range of equipment.
  • Planning and prioritising of own workloads allocated by the Team Leaders.
  • Working in the close proximity to patients most days.
  • Ability to work on heavy pieces of equipment where physical effort could be demanded.
  • Fault finding and repair on highly complex medical equipment.
  • Take a lead role within the department on the management of medical devices on behalf of the Trust, The post-holder will be a member of a team providing Clinical Engineering services for Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and other locations. These services cover anaesthetics, rehabilitation, electronic, digital, mechanical engineering and associated technical support within an acute trust.
  • These services also include a central supply service where all wards and departments can purchase equipment i.e.:- oxygen flowmeters, suction units, patient cables and consumables. Good medical engineering knowledge, experience and working practices are an essential component to the duties which are extremely specialised, non-routine and demand a high level of responsibility and independent judgement. The Clinical Engineering service is working within a quality system ISO9001:2015

    Significant experience of working within clinical engineering is essential. A degree or a level 6 qualification in an engineering based subject is required. The successful applicant will also be registered with the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) or an alternative accredited register, or through the Engineering Council.
