Full Job Description

This is an office-based role and you will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely clinical coding across the practice, supporting the quality of patient records and the wider work of the team.,

  • Read and interpret clinical correspondence, discharge summaries, and other patient documentation to extract and code relevant clinical information onto the practice system
  • Assign accurate SNOMED codes to diagnoses, procedures, and relevant clinical data
  • Work closely with clinicians to clarify coding queries and ensure records are complete and up to date
  • Support the Workflow Optimisation team in identifying and managing any coding backlogs
  • Contribute to practice audits and QOF/IIF targets where clinical coding is relevant
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to data protection and information governance requirements at all times
