Full Job Description

As an Advanced Specialist Biomedical Scientist, youll use your expert knowledge in transfusion and/or transplantation science to deliver high quality investigations that directly support safe patient care. Youll interpret complex results, guide clinical colleagues, and help shape scientific practice across the laboratory. Youll also lead by exampletraining others, refining our processes, and championing quality so we keep improving.   • In this role you will be an expert in transfusion/transplantation science. You will undertake a range of scientific procedures using specialist scientific knowledge, performing automated and/or manual investigations. Your key responsibilities will include: Analysing, interpreting, validating, transmitting and reporting the results of routine and complex investigations, working at the level of responsibility and conduct required of a registered Biomedical Scientist and be able to communicate highly complex information, including technical and scientific analysis, verbally, in writing and electronically to work colleagues and clinical or medical staff.
  • You will be expected to provide specialist advice to the centre, clusters of centres and hospitals in the region in own area of expertise and provide specialist training to new members of the team, acting as a mentor to developing staff.
  • You will be responsible for the daily allocation of workload and supervision of staff in the department, working to ensure is performed to high standards and meeting regulatory and quality requirements to ensure patient safety is the focus of all work performed.
