Full Job Description

We are working with a professional services firm with a strong reputation and a progressive approach. They are looking for a Billing Assistant to join an established central billing team within the finance function. Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Take responsibility for day-to-day billing activities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to required timescales, including invoice processing, write-offs and transfers of time and disbursement entries, consolidated invoicing, and other billing-related tasks as required.
  • Support e-billing clients to ensure invoices are submitted promptly and progress smoothly through approval and payment, including gathering required information, assisting with client portal setups, submitting invoices, creating LEDES files, managing rejections, and submitting and maintaining timekeeper rates.
  • Work closely with the Billing Manager and wider team to identify opportunities to improve billing processes and ensure consistent practices are adopted across the business.
  • Manage unbilled Work in Progress (WIP) to ensure billing aligns with client expectations and requirements, while helping to maintain low WIP levels.
  • Ensure billing activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and client-specific requirements.
  • Actively engage in learning and development, with regular reviews of skills and performance objectives alongside your line manager.

    Previous experience in billing or a similar finance administration role, ideally within a professional services environment such as legal or IP.
  • Experience using e-billing portals and a good understanding of Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and ownership over tasks.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Confident using MS Office, with the ability to learn and adapt to new financial systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
